Explore Madrid’s Landmarks on a Walking Tour
Madrid is a city known for its lifestyle. No matter the time of the day, Madrid never sleeps and there are always people wandering around the streets of Spain’s liveliest city. This evening tour starts at Plaza de Isabel II, next to the Royal Theatre. From there, you’ll see some of the city highlights like the Royal Palace of Madrid and the Cathedral of La Almudena, the setting of King Philip VI and Queen Letizia’s wedding!
After some Royal gossip, we’ll guide you through Madrid’s old town on a 1h and 30min walk to help you discover the most picturesque spots of this historic neighborhood. Apart from hearing about the Habsburg Dynasty and how this linage of monarchs changed the city, you will also see other interesting spots like the famous San Miguel Market.
The tour finishes with a visit to two of Madrid’s most important meeting points for the locals: the famous Plaza Mayor, with its multiple arches and accesses, and finally the Puerta del Sol, where the Madrileños gather to celebrate the New Year.

What makes this tour different from visiting Madrid on my own?
Madrid’s historic center is full of landmarks, but many visitors walk past them without understanding their significance. This tour provides the historical context, local stories, and cultural background that help bring the city to life, making it easier to appreciate Madrid beyond its monuments.
Will I learn about Spanish history or mainly about Madrid?
Both. The tour explains how Madrid developed from a small medieval town into the capital of Spain, while also introducing important moments in Spanish history and the role of the monarchy in shaping the city.
Who were the Habsburgs and why are they important?
The Habsburg dynasty transformed Madrid into the capital of a global empire during Spain’s Golden Age. Many of the historic squares, streets, and buildings you will see today were created or expanded during their reign.
Is this tour mainly focused on sightseeing or on local culture?
The tour combines both. Alongside Madrid’s most famous landmarks, your guide will introduce local traditions, daily life, gastronomy, and cultural anecdotes that help explain what makes Madrid unique today.
Will the guide give recommendations for the rest of my stay?
Yes. Your guide will be happy to share local recommendations for restaurants, food specialties, museums, neighborhoods, and other places worth visiting after the tour.
How do I check in on the day of the tour?
Please arrive at the meeting point approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. Simply show your confirmation email to your guide, who will verify your booking and assist you with the check-in process.
