About our Colosseum Underground and Arena Floor Tour
For two-thousand years, the Colosseum has stood its ground at the heart of Rome as testament of the eternal city’s glorious past. This impressive amphitheater attracts millions of visitors the world over, but with this tour you can be one of the few who gain access to its deepest secrets: the underground areas.
The tour starts at the Via dei Fori Imperiali with impressive views over the remains of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. From here, you’ll get an introduction to ancient Rome while you walk towards the icon of the Eternal City: the Colosseum. Inside the monument, your guide will tell you about the history of this remarkable building, still standing over two-thousand years after it was raised by the Flavian dynasty of Rome’s emperors.
On this tour, you’ll be able to visit the 1st and 2nd of the Colosseum. In addition, you’ll be one of the few lucky ones allowed not only into the Arena, but also deeper in the underground levels of the Colosseum, its most genuine and original areas.
The tour will finish inside the Colosseum, but the experience is not over. With your voucher, you can access the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill within 24 hours after the tour. Located at the heart of the city, these incredible remains stand as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of ancient Rome.
Given the very limited spots available to visit the Colosseum underground areas, this activity is only offered in a small group format of up to 10 people. If you’re interested in a group of more people, please contact us at info@thetouringpandas.com to check availability.

The terraces of this avenue offer outstanding views of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. Here your guide will make an introduction to ancient Rome.
Few monuments in the globe are as impressive as Rome’s Colosseum. After almost two thousand years, this amphitheater still stands to marvel at the millions of people that visit it every year. You will start the visit exploring the Underground areas before continuing with the rest of the building.
Out of the deep, the visit to the Colosseum continues on the Arena Floor, the terrain where lions, bears and other wild animals, as well as gladiators, had to face their fates.
After having seen the guts of the Colosseum, from level 1 you'll be able to admire the arcades that still hold this massive amphitheater, as well as panoramic views of its interior from the second level.
Walking through the Roman Forum, you may have the feeling that an earthquake just shook the foundations of ancient Rome. This used to be the heart of ancient Rome political and institutional life, which set the basis for Western modern democracies. You can visit the Roman Forum before or after the Colosseum at your own pace.
This is the actual spot where the history of Rome began. According to the legend, it is in this hill where Remus and Romulus were fed as babies by the capitoline wolf, and where later Romulus founded the city in the year 750 BC. Not only Romulus, but then many great emperors built their houses on this hill in the center of Rome, where we can still appreciate their remains. You can visit the Palatine Hill before or after the Colosseum at your own pace.
